Statement I Démarche artistique

"My artistic practice focuses on societal changes in today's world and on the forms in which globalization and interculturality are expressed in people's way of life, particularly in the clothing domain.

The starting points of my reflections are the philosophies of Roland Barthes on clothing as a formal system organized by society as well as George Simmel who considers fashion as a distinction, a separation, a singularity, an association and an attachment and because by the attachment of an individual to a group he is closed to other groups.

Moreover, the word "mode" in French originally "modus" means manner, custom, habit or "façon", a source of the English word "fashion"; it is defined as a way of living, thinking and behaving specific to a particular time/society.

Through my projects I try a work of contemplation, questioning, analysis or criticism, by posing an artistic, purely conceptual perspective on certain movements of women's fashion in the Arab world and in the Western world. I question the impact of globalization on their convergence, their divergence, even their opposition while taking into consideration the perception of the female body in these environments.

It is interesting to mention that the etymology of the word "crisis" is "critical". If the crisis is a situation or a moment of tension, disruption, uncertainty and conflict, criticism is a decisive and revealing gesture. To this end, through my artistic practice, I examine the possibility of art transforming ancestral or codified current elements based on normative ideological convictions into objects of decortication, provocation and destabilization. The intention of my practice is to create tension between the work of art and the viewer to prolong the process of his perception and encourage him to see and redefine it. This happens through a process of interpreting visual symbols, complicating shapes, and strangling objects."
